JOTA event 2005

last updated: - 2005-10-20

The Boy Scouts of America, Jamboree on the Air this past Saturday (15 October,2005)was a success!
Thanks to the hospitality of Mike Koss-W9SU and the organizational skills of Mike Henney-KE9YA..
Five Cub Scouts and one Girl Scout, all around the ages 8-10 form Fishers IN. participated.

They had contacts with stations in the USA and around the world. For example: Luxemburg,
Cook Islands, Hawaii, Kwajalien. More “local” contacts included: Canada, California,
Colorado, Missouri and others. Scouts talk to other scouts all around the world.

The Scouts were working the HF radios, logging their contacts on individual log cards
and then looking up the Geographic location of the contact on maps at the W9ims club station.
Approximately 300,000 Scouts from all over the world "get together" for the annual
Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) each year....

Plans are already in the mill for next years event.

Thanks to all of the hams that worked with the kids on this joint club effort
(W9IMS,IRC & RCA )and also to those that just stopped by to enjoy the fellowship.

73; Mike-KE9YA
